For centuries, vinegar has been used for various household and cooking purposes but most importantly, it has been used as a folk remedy, to cure everything from the flu to cramping. It is also is also know to help promote health by controlling diabetes, heart problems, high cholesterol, and weight issues.
Below are a few reasons that I always make sure to have apple cider vinegar handy in my pantry.
Apple cider vinegar is known to lower blood sugar levels. In one study participants took two tablespoons of Apple cider vinegar before bed and saw their blood sugar 4 to 6 percent by the time they woke. The anti-glycemic effect of the acid in apple cider vinegar is what helps with insulin sensitivity.
Helps in Weight Loss
Consuming Apple cider vinegar can help you feel more full, which can help you eat less. A study has also shown acetic acid, found in Apple cider vinegar, to slow fat accumulation. Have a 1 tbsp. diluted in water before your main meal to see the benefits.
Detox your body
Apple cider vinegar can be used to detox your body. It aids in the removal of toxins and detoxify the liver. The acid in Apple cider vinegar bind to toxins and thus assist in removing toxins from the body. Apple cider vinegar's potassium content helps to break up mucus in the body and clearing the lymph nodes.
It balances your body's pH levels
Although vinegar is obviously acidic, it actually has a neutralizing effect once it's inside of you. It makes your body's pH more basic (i.e., alkaline) which could mean better bone health.
Energize our body
Fatigue is commonly caused by increased in lactic acid. Apple cider vinegar has a high amino acids, potassium and enzyme content which helps reduce levels of lactic acid in the body which comes from exertion of energy and stress.
Apple Cider vinegar helps dissolve the acid crystals in your blood. It also provide an added dose of potassium, calcium, and other minerals that are essential for the joints in your body. Which in turns reduce cramping.
Helps in digestion
Apple cider vinegar is known to help in digestion of food. Take 1-2 tbsp. diluted apple cider vinegar (mixed in water) to help settle that stomach. It's the antibiotic properties and bacteria fighting power of ACV that help. Some say the pectin in apple cider vinegar also helps with intestinal spasms.Soothes a sore throat
Apple cider vinegar helps fights the infection. Gargle equal parts warm water and apple cider vinegar at the first sign of a sore throat to keep the infection away.Clears a stuffy nose
Apple cider vinegar contains potassium, which thins mucus; and the acetic acid in it prevents bacteria growth, which could contribute to nasal congestion.
